Iceland: To be or not to be a member.

Following a complete collapse of its economy last year, Iceland applied on July 16 to become part of the European Union. Iceland stands to gain a great deal from joining the EU, and EU leaders said that nation would be fast tracked to accession in the Union. But recent polls indicate that many of Iceland’s people don’t want to join the EU or adopt the euro. So what should Iceland do? Should the government ignore the people, and join the EU if they deem it the best option? Or should the people decide?
